The Basics of Katy Perry Hairstyle 2010, 2011
Katy Perry started out her major career with songs like “I Kissed a Girl,” and now her career has skyrocketed into pop fame. One thing she prides herself on in this fame is to keep a style of hair that is as sassy and fun as she and her music is. Luckily for her (and you), achieving this goal is not as difficult as you may think. It just takes knowing how to get it cut and doing what it takes to achieve her signature looks.

To start with the cut, we will explore Katy’s latest one rather than the several more she has sported in the past. This cut seems to be serving her well and seems to be one she’ll keep for a while. Her cut consists of a length that is just under shoulder length, with a blunt, very thick bang in the front and several thick, long layers throughout. She is fond of a dark black color to her hair, but this part is of course negotiable – you can get her look without her color.
Katy relies heavily on some great frizz-control leave-in conditioner and a curling iron at minimum. Her red carpet style often features her thick beautiful hair straight down in soft, waving curls (usually with a few ends of her layers sticking outward for effect). Her bangs are often completely down her forehead or teased up and back to give it a 50s pinup girl kind of feel, a style she is very fond of in all of her haircuts. She rarely wears her hair straight, and when she does she always has a glittery hair accessory to keep it from looking boring.
